Introducing Quay Quarter Towers Newest Neighbours!

Quay Quarter Tower recently welcomed some new, tiny residents to it's rooftop garden—a thriving beehive that will play a vital role in enhancing biodiversity, supporting sustainability, and enriching our local ecosystem.

Installed as part of our ongoing commitment to urban greening and environmental stewardship, the hive is home to a colony of hardworking honeybees that will help pollinate nearby plants, including those in our rooftop garden and Sydney's Royal Botanic Gardens.

Bees are responsible for pollinating around 75% of global food crops, yet their populations are in decline due to habitat loss, climate change, and pesticides. By introducing a hive at Quay Quarter Tower, we’re providing a safe and supportive environment for these crucial pollinators while also benefiting from their natural contribution to plant growth and biodiversity.

The rooftop garden is already a flourishing space designed to improve air quality, reduce urban heat, and create a more inviting atmosphere for tenant customer, visitors and the community. The addition of a beehive strengthens this vision by promoting ecological balance and offering a small but powerful step toward a greener future.

The bees will be carefully monitored by professional beekeepers to ensure their health and wellbeing. Over time, they’ll produce small batches of honey, which we hope to incorporate into future sustainability initiatives at Quay Quarter.

The excitement aound this intiative has already created a buzz, with Channel 7 recently featuring our rooftop beehive and sustainability intiatives on it's new news segement, "The Bright Side".

Welcome to Quay Quarter, little bees—your work here is already making a difference!
